Planning Proposal effecting part Lot 56 DP1220883, 216 Cobb Highway

The construction of a new Police Station in Moama has been on our agenda for a number of years, and after lengthy talks with the Minister of Police and NSW Police Force, we finally have the go ahead to help make this a reality! To facilitate this exciting project, Council has prepared a Planning Proposal which seeks to provide a central location for our emergency service providers at 216 Cobb Highway, Moama. This Council owned community land (Lawry Park) is south of the existing Moama Rural Fire Service Station and is temporarily being used as part of the new Moama/Echuca bridge project. If approved, the planning proposal will achieve the following:

  • Rezone part of Lot 56 DP1220883, 216 Cobb Highway, Moama from R1 General Residential to SP2 Infrastructure for the purposes of an ‘emergency services facility’ and ‘public administration building’;
  • Reclassify part of 56 DP1220883 from ‘community land’ to ‘operational land’.

Council is required to undertake a number of formal processes, which have been detailed in the Planning Proposal. All the documents and information associated with the Proposal are available in the 'key documents' panel to your right. You will see that no designs for the new police station have been included in the Planning Proposal, as they do not form part of this process. This aspect of the project will be be carried out under a separate development application which will be submitted to Council for evaluation at a later date.
