Moulamein Flood Study Review

Council are completing a review of the Moulamein Flood Study, with support from WMS Engineering consultants.

The review will ensure mapping and plans capture all relevant data to support flood preparedness and response activities in the future.

Background

Following the significant 2022 flood event in Moulamein, Murray River Council has undertaken a comprehensive review of the Moulamein Flood Study to ensure our community has up-to-date, accurate information about local flood risks.

Developed in conjunction with VMS Engineering, the review updates flood risk data using new modelling aligned with current Australian Guidelines and recent flood data.

The Review

The Draft Moulamein Flood Study Review identifies riverine and overland flood risks in and around Moulamein. It provides updated technical data, mapping, and information to guide flood emergency response, land use planning, and community preparedness.

The draft study includes:

  • Revised flood mapping using updated modelling and recent flood data
  • Analysis of levee performance under different flood scenarios
  • Hazard categorisation to understand flood impacts
  • Recommendations to assist with emergency response planning and land use controls.
