Council has developed a DRAFT Employment Lands Strategy in consultation with the local community and businesses. The Strategy offers a summary of the issues and opportunities associated with ‘employment land’ (areas that are generally zoned for industrial or commercial purposes) in the Murray River Council local government area.
It identifies strategies and actions to ensure a range of developable employment land is available to meet projected demand and provide for future local jobs. It also reviews current employment land-use and provides recommendations for future decision-making on such land across the council area.
In delivering the Strategy we have worked with our primary business sectors to explore the current issues relating to employment land availability, affordability and diversity across the area.
The Strategy will offer a foundation for Council to exercise strong leadership in land-use planning and facilitate future growth in employment/business lands across our area.

The Strategy builds on the relevant economic and employment actions from the Local Strategic Planning Statement. It also reflects elements of the Economic Development and Tourism Strategy.
These reports, among others, offer detailed analysis of growth influencers, current supply and capacity that will help inform the new strategy.
