Council is developing an Employment Lands Strategy in consultation with the local community and businesses. The Strategy will offer a summary of the issues and opportunities associated with ‘employment land’ (areas that are generally zoned for industrial or commercial purposes) in the Murray River Council local government area.
It will identify strategies and actions to ensure a range of developable employment land is available to meet projected demand and provide for future local jobs. We will also review current employment land-use and provide recommendations for future decision-making on such land across the council area.
The Strategy will offer a foundation for Council to exercise strong leadership in land-use planning and facilitate future growth in employment/business lands across our area.

The Strategy will build on the relevant economic and employment actions from the Local Strategic Planning Statement. It will also reflect elements of the Economic Development and Tourism Strategy once finalised in late 2023.
These reports, among others, offer detailed analysis of growth influencers, current supply and capacity that will help inform the new strategy.
You can view the relevant documents in the related documents tab on this project page.

In delivering the Strategy we will be working with our primary business sectors to explore the current issues relating to employment land availability, affordability and diversity across the area.
An online industry workshop has been completed and additional targeted consultation with industry will be undertaken in November 2023.
This input is crucial as we look to future-proof our area, so stay tuned for more information as any additional consultation opportunities are developed.
If you have questions or need more information, touch base with the team via the 'who's listening' tab.
