Disability Inclusion Action Plan

Council is developing a new Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) to help create a more inclusive and accessible community where everyone can participate in community life.

The DIAP will outline the actions Council, together with our community, will take over the next four years to improve access to services, facilities, events and information for people with disability. It focuses on areas that Council can directly influence, including local public spaces and facilities, Council services, community programs, events, and the way we communicate and share information.

Under NSW legislation, all councils are required to prepare a Disability Inclusion Action Plan and review it every four years. Murray River Council's current plan was adopted in 2022, and this new plan will guide our priorities for the years ahead.

Your input

As part of the plan’s development, we're seeking feedback from community members to understand what's working well, what barriers still exist, and where improvements can be made.

Barriers may include physical and environmental access, communication, attitudes, or the systems and processes people encounter when accessing Council services.

There are several options to provide input:

Your feedback will help us understand what’s working well, what barriers still exist, and what actions will make the Murray more inclusive and accessible for all.

Barriers include: physical and environmental, communication, attitudes, systems and processes.

The DIAP focuses on things Council can directly influence, such as local public facilities and places; Council services, events and community programs; Council communication and information.

This survey is for any person who lives, works or visits the Murray River Council area.

Note: When we say disability, we use this as an umbrella term to indicate people who experience barriers to participation in everyday life due to a medical condition. This may include physical disability, mental or chronic health conditions, neurodivergent, people who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing, people who are blind or have low vision. We acknowledge that not all people with these conditions will identify with the term disability.
