We’re developing an Arts and Culture Strategy to guide Council’s involvement and investment in arts and cultural activities, festivals and events.

The strategy will build on the strengths of Council’s current arts and cultural program and will help increase the profile of creative industries within our community.

The final Strategy will offer clear direction on Council’s role in the events and festivals space, arts, history and cultural heritage in our communities over the coming years.

What is the Strategy?

The Arts and Cultural Strategy aims to develop an actionable plan through extensive community and stakeholder engagement. Objectives of the strategy include determining current expenditure and community satisfaction with Council's involvement in arts, culture, and heritage, identifying appropriate services and defining their contribution to the local economy.

It also prioritises community involvement while providing a clear action plan, including a public art policy addendum.

Your involvement

Between September and October 2023, Council and our consultants, Spark Strategy engaged with 171 community members and key stakeholders to learn what was important to them. Those insights informed the development of our Draft Arts & Culture Strategy on a Page: a one pager that summarises the key elements and direction of this strategy. You can find this in the key documents tab on this page.

You then gave us some final feedback on the final draft strategy in April. You can view this in the documents tab too.
