Smart Water Meters

Council is rolling out smart water meters across the area, with over 6,500 properties benefiting from having a smart water meter installed at their properties.

This is one of the many actions we are undertaking to better manage our water infrastructure to ensure long-term sustainable outcomes.

A smart water meter is a device that automatically records water use, can electronically report water usage information at regular intervals and provides instant access to data that can show peak usage and other information.

Benefits of smart water meters include:

  • the early detection of leaks
  • the ability for customers to check their water usage
  • the ability for customers to develop strategies to reduce water usage
  • the more effective response by council to customer water usage enquiries

As the installation program progresses, residents will receive an installation notice in their mailbox.

The unoccupied house next to us ie 2 Dundee Court Moama, has a leaking raw water tap. It is leaking at the join where the Smart Meter is attached and also at the stop tap washer. Can Council visit the site and fix this issue?

RJL-MRC asked almost 4 years ago

Many thanks for the feedback on the leaking join in the Smart Water Meter at 2 Dundee Court Moama. Council has now repaired the leak and notified the owner.

Your diligence is appreciated as water is such a precious commodity.  Once again thank you for providing the information.
