The Department of Planning Industry and Environment is inviting local councils to apply for up to $1 million in grants as part of the 'Your High Street' program to make permanent changes that improve the amenity of a high street in our area.

Great public spaces are vital to communities. They provide places for social interaction, can improve health and wellbeing and offer communities a sense of identity and character. Great public spaces are also safe and accessible for all to use and enjoy. COVID-19 has highlighted the value and benefit of public spaces as we re-equip our towns to be safe and attractive places and support economic recovery.

Streets, paths and plazas make up an essential part of our network of public spaces. Whether you use them for travelling, walking, cycling, outdoor dining, socialising or doing business, streets are crucial infrastructure for successful and healthy urban areas.

As a public space, Meninya high street has become a focal point during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our community has needed to use Meninya high street differently to ensure safe physical distancing while maintaining appropriate opportunities for doing business, socialising and other activities.
The revitalisation of Meninya Street will be crucial as an economic driver alongside the construction of the new Echuca Moama bridge. More than just a street for the movement of motor vehicles, Meninya Street supports our local jobs and services such as shopping, dining, entertainment, health and personal services to meet the needs of our local community.

Council is now seeking your feedback - via the survey below - on what is important to you about Meninya high street, and your support for an application for funding to make improvements guided by the Meninya Street Master Plan. If you're interested in viewing the Master Plan, you can download it via the news feed below.

You can register or sign in to take the survey now. It should only take you a couple of minutes. Thank you!
