Council created a new Economic Development and Tourism Strategy for our region.
The Strategy identifies opportunities and potential projects that will support continued economic growth, foster local employment opportunities and position Murray River Council as a leader in tourism.
We have also looked to identify barriers to business growth and capture ideas around industry retention and attraction, production and manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality and events and a skilled workforce.
The final Strategy is supported by a short-term, annual action plan to implement the strategy over time. The annual action plan is a separate document. This design is intentional and will allow the annual action plan to adapt over time and to matters or issues that arise suddenly (such as COVID-19 and the 2022 flood). In such a way, the strategy provides for long-term direction towards goals while providing flexibility and adaptability to the ever changing environment that we live in.
Thank you to everyone who provided input into the development of this strategy.
