What is a Community Strategic Plan?

The CSP identifies the community's vision and aspirations for the future. It's a 10 year plan that sets the strategic objectives, goals, priorities and direction - it's our road map for the future and the most important plan in Council.

Why start now when we already have a plan?

Because we want to provide you with a longer period to consider the future, anticipate change, develop ideas, and together, create a well structured plan.

We want your ideas and feedback to create a CSP "blueprint" for the incoming council to further expand and finalise with you following the elections in 2021.

More importantly its your plan and we want you to have your say on our future and encourage your community to do the same.

    How do I get involved?

You can sign in or register on "Your Say Murray River" and get involved in the engagement activities we'll be running at different stages over the next 18 months.

We're banking on you to spread the word and get others involved in shaping our future.

How will you engage with us?

While we're social distancing we'll engage with you on "Your Say Murray River". We'll be running various engagement activities over three stages. So it's important you sign in or register to participate.

Stage 1 - creating the CSP 'blueprint'

During this stage we will engage with you to better understand:

    • What you value about your local area and what you think our role is?
    • Your aspirations for the future of your local area to create a collective / shared vision
    • Your ideas for making your local area a better place to live, and
    • Your expectations of Council

So far, we’ve fleshed-out some ideas on our purpose, long term-aspiration and what our goals could be. These ideas have all been captured in what we call our 'strategy on a page' - the high-level summary of our thinking.

This stage will test our thinking and together, with your collected ideas, we will have a firmer view of what the 'strategy on a page' should be and a first cut of a CSP "blueprint".

Stage 2 - building the 'draft' CSP

Your ideas and feedback will give Council direction on the initiatives to include in the CSP 'blueprint'. The 'blueprint' will act as a first cut for the incoming Council in 2021 who will work with you to expand the plan further to form the 'draft' CSP.

This stage will involve extensive engagement to gain a deeper understanding of the key opportunities, priorities and ideas that will help shape the long term strategies and actions of the 'draft'.

Stage 3 - nailing the 'final' CSP

During this stage the 'draft' is placed on public exhibition and you have 28 days to submit your comments for consideration in preparing the 'final' CSP for adoption by Council.
